MY DESIGN JOURNEY

Nicola knows that, for many, approaching an interior design project can be daunting. That is why she offers a service tailored to your needs which she will expertly translate from rough ideas into a fully realised scheme.

Founder of Salvage + Spruce, Nicola Mellen went to school at Millfield in Somerset. She went on to study Set Design at Central Saint Martins in London. Fascinated with how the interior aspects of a space and the objects within it can make you feel she launched into the world of interiors.

Nicola has worked on a range of creative and design roles for over 20 years and delighted to now be bringing her skills, experience and passion of creating beautifully decorated homes to the local area.

Nicola is half South African and lived there for 10 years in her 20’s. She gained a rich experience and collective understanding of African culture, craftsmanship and design which influences her work today.

Her experience over the years of working with colour, pattern and furniture has established her as an expert in her field - offering a natural, refined and feminine approach to interior design.

Having taken a few years off to start her family she has returned to work recognising a gap in the market for friendly, affordable and accessible interior design support.

Focussing on colour, pattern, upholstery, furniture and decorative ‘objects’ - Nicola aims to gently guide clients out of their comfort zone helping them create their dream home.

Nicola has a passion for refreshing and rejuvenating existing furniture and architectural features working with an eco-conscious practice where possible by reducing, reusing and recycling only once something reaches the absolute end of its lifecycle.

Nicola will help create a space that is perfect for you, that will evoke the mood and ambience you want to feel when you’re in it.
