SALVAGE SPRUCE

CHARACTERFUL INTERIORS. MADE POSSIBLE.

Welcome to Salvage + Spruce — an independent interior design studio based in Frome, Somerset.

I create characterful, colourful homes with soul, bringing together colour, pattern, texture, vintage pieces and thoughtful design to make spaces that feel personal, practical and completely you.

I believe great design doesn’t have to mean starting again or spending a fortune. Often, it’s about seeing the potential in what you already have, making clever choices and adding the right mix of colour, creativity and personality.

Whether you’re renovating a whole house, rethinking a room or simply need a fresh pair of eyes, I’m here to help you create a home you genuinely love living in.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe a beautiful home doesn’t need a huge budget. It’s about making thoughtful choices, seeing the potential in what you already have, and creating a space that feels completely your own.

I’m passionate about interiors with colour, character and soul — homes that feel collected rather than styled, and personal rather than predictable. Colour, pattern and texture are at the heart of my work, layered together to create warmth, energy and a sense of belonging.

I also believe good design should be more sustainable. I love mixing old with new, sourcing vintage and second-hand pieces, and giving forgotten furniture a new lease of life. A little creativity can transform what’s already there into something beautiful, useful and uniquely yours.

For me, it’s about creating homes that feel good to live in — not just good to look at.

ABOUT NICOLA

With over 20 years working across creative and design disciplines, I’ve always been fascinated by the way our surroundings can shape how we feel and live.

My love of interiors started early. I was the child constantly rearranging furniture, creating little corners and covering walls with photographs and things I loved. I’ve always been drawn to colour, texture, pattern and the stories that objects can bring to a space.

I went on to study Set Design at Central Saint Martins, where I discovered how much I loved creating atmosphere and immersive environments. After graduating, I moved to South Africa, where I began my career in interior design, working across residential and commercial projects. Living there for ten years had a lasting influence on my approach — from its rich use of colour and texture to its appreciation of craftsmanship and the beauty of imperfection.

Today, through Salvage + Spruce, I bring all of those influences together. I love finding the potential in a space, a piece of furniture or an unexpected combination of colours, and turning it into something that feels personal and full of character.

Painting is still a big part of my creative life, whether I’m transforming a piece of furniture, experimenting with colour or simply getting lost in the process. For me, it’s all about creating spaces with soul, personality and a little bit of joy.
